The 2023 Cambridge International School Leaders conference explores what makes an Outstanding school and the role of leadership in building and sustaining great schools.
With the recent impact of Covid-19 and the resultant impact on education sectors and systems locally and globally- this year’s Cambridge School Leaders conference focused on equipping and challenging educators to take bold and decisive steps in leading their schools post-Covid19 and beyond.
Cambridge International Education Conference which has now been running in Cambridge since 2011 staged a three-day conference aimed at exploring the above theme.
The 2023 Cambridge School Leaders conference held in Cambridge last week, saw leading speakers address the above theme to an audience spanning Asia, Africa and Europe with educators joining from the UK and beyond.
Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, Honourable Commissioner for Education Lagos State Nigeria gave the Opening Keynote address as the Special Guest and Award Recipient on the subject titled ‘Creating a Sustainable Fit-For-Purpose Education Model”- she used the Lagos State journey of transformation to show what is possible when leaders rise to the challenge of the hour. This session was truly inspirational and very well received.
Mrs Adefisayo was also one of three recipients of this year’s Global Education Leadership Award 2023.
Dr Peter Gray who presented the Award to Mrs Adefisayo thanked her for ‘exceptional leadership, courage and determination to make quality education accessible to all especially the most vulnerable in society’. The award is in recognition of her service to education locally and globally.
Other notable speakers include Sir Anthony Seldon (former Vice Chancellor of University of Buckingham UK), Dr Julian Huppert (Former Member of Parliament for Cambridge and Director of the Intellectual Forum, Jesus College, University of Cambridge, The Deputy Mayor of Cambridge- Cllr Jenny Gawthrope Wood, Dr Amina Wakefield – Director Cambridge Worldwide Academy and many others).
The School Leaders Conference is one of the annual events organsied by the Cambridge International Education Conference and offshoot of the EDA conference which has held educational training and conferences in and around the UK since 1888.
